Everyone in Lagos Life is a real person
The character walking past you, the stranger in your DMs, the person outbidding you on a flat — all real players. That is what makes Lagos Life feel alive, and what you need to understand before you dive in.
It is one shared Lagos, not your own save
Lagos Life is massively multiplayer. There is a single living city and you share it with everyone else online — we have seen tens of thousands of players online at once (the top bar shows the live count), out of more than seven million total. The people you meet are not scripted NPCs; they are other humans making their own choices in the same economy.
The four ways you interact with people
- Chat — message other players directly. This is also where scammers operate, so read Chat & Scams before you trust anyone.
- Money transfers — you can send in-game naira to another player. It is a real transfer system, which is exactly why “send me money” scams exist.
- Relationships — the developer has added real in-game weddings, babies and sibling ties, so your connections become part of your character.
- Shared spaces & services — you bump into people at nightlife spots, places of worship, the casino and more (see Multiplayer). Some jobs are social too: a lawyer can be hired by another player who has a court date, for a fee they set.
The golden rule of the social game
In-game naira has no real-world value and cannot be cashed out. Keep that fact in your head and most scams fall apart on their own — nobody can “pay you real money” for it, and nobody needs to “double” it for you.
Where social fits in your day
Tap your character and you get a menu of quick actions — several are social (Call Mummy, Sing Afrobeats, dance moves) and each takes only a few seconds while nudging your social and fun needs up. Keeping those topped up keeps your mood up, which keeps your work performance — and your pay — high.

Still being verified
The deep details of relationships — exact wedding steps, what family ties unlock, the cost of a transfer — are things we are still checking in-game. Where a page says “we're verifying this,” treat it as a best-current-understanding, not gospel.
